Q: How did the band pick its name?
Answer: "The band" never planned on being a band. I booked
a few shows and told the club owners to put whatever band name they thought would draw. They were lazy. They did not do this.
They just put it down under my last name and told me to call them when I thought of a name. I never did. They billed us as
Lynam. Jacob ended up saying, "We'll just call the band that ... you happy now?" lol To this day it's so funny to come into
a new town or meet a new DJ who's not too familiar with us and just buchures the name. Then we go to the venue and in huge
letters it's just totally mispelled on the marquee.
Q. Who are the members, past and present of the band?
Answer: The band started out as a three piece with me, Jacob and bass player Brian Jones. Then, we brought in
front man, Dave "Dee Dee" Brown. He sang with us for around a year. In that year our touring became pretty hectic and we started
doing out of town shows. With Brian Jones being married and having a day job this became too strenuous for him and he had
to leave the band. We then, for about a month, used seven different bass players. We finally decided to hire Mark Dzier after
using him for a couple of shows. I mean, screw how well this guy can play bass he knows tour buses inside and out.
Q. How long have u been playing with Lynam?
Answer: Since our first show Feb. 28th, 2001. Original member right here baby!!! I'll always have to be part
of the reunion tour! :-D
Q. How long have u been playing drums?
Answer: Not that long to be making a living out of playing. I'd say 8 or 9 years. I'm self taught. I wish I could
read music now though. When other drummers talk shop, I'm just lost.
Q. What other bands have
u been in? Answer: Standard Candle and a cover band called Souled Out who's no longer together anymore.
Standard Candle is still together and has been recording at the same studio as us and their stuff is really great. I highly
recommend that you all go listen to it. Jacob played guitar on mostly all of it in studio. www.standard-candle.com
Q. How did you develop your love of music? Answer: Listening to Motley Crue's "Shout
at the Devil" album for the first time put the fantacy in my head of playing drums. I can remember it like it was yesterday.
I walked into Philip Hosey's house down the street from me when I was like 9 or 10 and he had a turntable out blaring the
whole album .... ALBUM, literally ... it was on vinyl. Anyhow, it was at that point that I thought, "Maaaaaaan, it would be
awesome to make music like this." Never did I ever think that I would do it. It was just a fantacy then.
Q.Describe your music for anyone that has not heard of you.
Answer: This gets so hard b/c you wanna describe
yourself perfectly so that everyone goes, "Yeah, that sounds yummy!" I'd say we attempt to make a modern sounding song that's
a mixture of a little punk rock mixed with pop. A touch between Marvelous 3, Greenday and Guns n' Roses. One thing we're obsessed
with is big sound. We want to bring back a guitar solo into a song that takes some talent. These cats in the biz today couldn't
have gotten into a band back in the 80's. You had to be a SHREDDER back then! Some call our music "Big dumb rock" which is
fine with us. That's kinda what we're shooting for. We want our music/combined with our live shows to be something that people
walk off from and go, "Damn nation that was fun! I totally forgot I have a stack of bills waiting on me at my house!"
Q: What are some of your more memorable shows?
Answer: City Stages with Def Leppard in Birmingham. Fayetteville,AR with Saliva. Workplay Theatre in
B'ham Hard Rock Cafe Atlanta,GA
Q: What radio stations play music by Lynam?
Answer: Well to be honest with you at one time we had several stations across the southeast mainly that were
spinning Lynam back when Disco King was hitting. Lately we've only gotten the X here in town to spin Waste My Life every now
and then but all of that should change with the new record deal. They've got huge radio plans for us.
Q.
How many Cds do you have out right now?
Answer: To date we have 3 cd's out and four recorded. Our first cd, White Trash Superstar is out
of print but you can still download it from ITunes and from www.cdbaby.com I believe. People think they can't get a copy of
it and that's not true. You may not get the artwork of the half naked chick on the cover but hell I can email that to anyone
who wants to have it. :-P We have a catalog of over 50 songs right now though which is pretty good we think for only being
together four and a half years.
Q: What's the title of your latest album?
Answer: Life in Reverse
Q: What are some of your favorite tracks
off the album?
Answer: Oh everyone has different ones but mine are Tanis and Descend.
Q.
What was it like to be onstage with the band for the 1st time?
Answer: Well there was all of this hype about "Jacob Bunton" and "Mars Electric." And everywhere we'd go people would
be smooching his rear-end and telling them how much they loved the band. I, personally met him within days of them splitting
up so I never saw one of their shows nor did I own one of their cd's. So I remember thinking at our first show, "Hey, I think
this cat's played around a time or two, you'd better tighten up." I was an awful drummer 3 years ago though, I MEAN AWFUL!
It must have been unbearable to be on stage with me. Bless my band mates hearts.
Q. What is your fav. Song to play and why(cover or your own
)? Answer: Cover --> Kiss - Cold Gin Original --> Tie: A Lifetime
ain't enough and Bemused.
Q: Where can readers go to buy your music and merchandise?
Right now, from www.cdbaby.com is where you can buy our cd's. They ship 'em quickly right to your door. You can buy
t-shirts and CD's at our shows but if you're looking to get a shirt and can't make it to a show, go to www.lovinglynam.com
and she can hook you up. Lisa's site there is the only place online you can buy signed merchandise. So what about you Carla.
Would you like for Bamabands.com to start selling Lynam merch?
Q: If you could pick
three (3) musicians or bands past or present to play a dream concert with Lynam, who you pick and where would your dream concert
be?
Answer: Easy! Don't even have to think about it! Motley Crue, U2 and The Darkness. That
show ... I can't even tell you. I would cry every time a band would come out. Even mine b/c I would know in the back of my
head, "You're so not worthy you lucky bastard!"
Q. Who was the person who most influenced you, and how
?
Answer: Musically or just in general? In general, I would have
to say my mother. She's the best reader of anything I'm trying to hide. She can sniff out a shinanagan in a NY minute. Musically?
Tommy Lee. What a bad ass. I got to meet him last week and I thought my heart was literally going to jump out of my chest.
Q. any embarrassing moments on stage?
Answer: To be honest with you it takes a lot after being on stage with Jacob nightly and him making cracks about
anything embarrasing he can think of to make me blush. We lose power at some of these college shows we play from time
to time and that's always kinda humiliating I think. B/c often times people don't know what happened they just think your
sh**'s broke.
Q. What is your fav. Clothes to wear on stage?
Answer: I'll be honest with you after watching Nikki Sixx last week. That guy, man, I mean, can you have a bigger
rock star in this generation. The guy's no telling how old and he comes out on stage and just puts me in aw. I look at him
and go, "I wanna wear whatever he's wearing" so ... when you see me, you'll prolly think, "Oh he's got a run down Nikki Sixx
looking style." I could never out do that maniac!
Q. What do you do in your downtime?
Answer: Golf, about to go do it right now actually for the 5th day in a row. I also fish when the weather permits.
And since we don't drink on stage I make up for that on my off nights too.
Q. tell me 3 things
that noone knows about you.
NO one meaning my best friends or NO one meaning folks who come watch us week in and week out? Well, my passion
for golf probably threw some people for a loop but if that didn't do it here are three: 1. I love talk radio and Fox News
Channel 2. My evil vice is pornography 3. I wish I could have my dog Buz sit behind my drumset at every show. Isn't
that retarded?
no dave for those of us who went to the rockfest in Guntersville. That dog adores you!
Q. ANYTHING TO ADD?
Answer: Yes, I want to say that I'm proud of you for mataining this site for so long. YOU, my dear, have done
such a wonderful job with it and it has turned out to be a site that many folks come and traffic to find out about bands from
this wonderful state. I wanted to make a quick mention that we just signed a record deal with DRT records last week and
that our first single, Tanis, will be submitted to radio in Jan. of next year and the national release of our CD in every
store in America on March 7th, 2006. And we want you to know no matter how successful we become you're always welcome to an
interview and juicy detals of what's shaking in the White Trash Mafia. Thanks again Carla! Carla:
THANKS DAVE
